Hello PACAT helpers!
We need you to help keep up the pressure on the new government.
Live export from WA to Libya is about to resume! Please see the attached
article.
Please write to Tony Burke (federal minister for Agriculture) and let
him know what you think about the resumption of live exports to Libya.
Some points you might like to raise are:
1. this trade has repeatedly demonstrated that it cannot be trusted.
2. Emmanual Exports has breached WA Animal Welfare laws but was not
punished because its commonwealth export licence overrode the WA laws.
3. this trade cannot continue if it is exempt from WA animal welfare
laws.
Tony Burke's details are:
Federal Minister for Agriculture
PO Box 6022
House of Representatives
Parliament House
Canberra ACT 2600
Tel: (02) 6277 7520
Fax: (02) 6273 4120
Email: Tony.Burke.MP at aph.gov.au
Live export generally is a federal issue, not a state issue, so try to
keep the pressure on the federal government.
However, we don't want Kim Chance (WA state minister for Agriculture) to
think he has been let off easily. There is a state election coming up
and he needs to know what you think.
THE HON KIM M CHANCE MLC
Minister for Agriculture
Mail:
11th Floor, Dumas House
2 Havelock Street
WEST PERTH WA 6005
e-Mail: kim-chance at dpc.wa.gov.au
Phone number: (08) 9213 6700
Fax: (08) 9213 6701
Keep up the good work!
Thanks again!
Heidi
